How do I create an account?

Kahoot! accounts are free for students and teachers

You can get started by going to https://kahoot.com/ and clicking Sign up in the top navigation bar. You'll be taken through a quick, four-step process.

STEP 1: Role

This helps us ensure your experience with Kahoot! is tailored to your needs.

  • STUDENT: For creating kahoots and presenting what you're learning to teachers and peers.
  • TEACHER: For lesson-building and engaging students in new materials.
  • WORK: For internal or commercial trainings, events, and product promotion.
  • SOCIAL: For personal, non-commercial use.

STEP 2: Login Method

We currently offer three ways you can sign in. Currently, the method chosen during sign up can't be changed later on.

SignupSignIn.png
  • GOOGLE: Use your Google-hosted account to sign in
  • MICROSOFT: Use your Microsoft-hosted account to sign in
  • EMAIL: Use any email address and create a username and password to sign in with.

STEP 3: Account Details

Based on your role and login method, you'll need to provide some information.

Date of Birth (required)

In line with our Child Privacy Policy, we ask students and social Kahoot!'ers to verify their age. If they are under 16 (under 13 in the U.S.), their birthday is remembered so that we can take extra steps to avoid exposure to inappropriate content. Otherwise, their birthday is forgotten and they can report inappropriate content if they find any.

School or University (optional)

This is an optional field that won't  impact your Kahoot! experience. In some cases, this information might help our Support team find your account if you need help.

Company or Organization (required)

If you sign up for a subscription, this will be the name of your team that you can invite others to. You can change your team's name at any time.

Workplace details (required)

This gives us some context about the environment you plan to use Kahoot! In, allowing us to better tailor your experience to your needs.

Username (required)

This will be your public Kahoot! alias. It cannot be changed after your account is created. Others can search by your username to find all your public content. Make sure you pick something easy to remember and understandable! Your username must be 6-20 letters, and can include numbers and/or underscores.

Email (required)

If you forget your password at some point, you can submit your email at https://create.kahoot.it/l/#forgotpassword to generate a link (sent to you from noreply@getkahoot.com) which will allow you to create a new password.

Password (required)

Your password (along with username or email) will be what you sign in with if the EMAIL login method was chosen in step 2. Passwords must be between 6 and 20 characters long. Make sure it's a strong one, and remember - passwords should never be shared with anyone, including the Kahoot! team.

STEP 4: Custom Setup

Once you've clicked "Join Kahoot!", you'll have an account! However, depending on your role, you may have additional options presented to you before you can get started.

TEACHER: You'll have a one-time opportunity to tell us which grades and subjects you teach. This will be used in search filters to help others find your public content.

WORK: You'll be presented with options to upgrade to a subscription.

SOCIALLY: If you are at least 16 years old (13 in the U.S.), you'll be presented with options to upgrade to a subscription.

The first thing you'll need to choose is what type of game you want to create. Choose wisely! A kahoot's game type cannot be changed.

After choosing a game type, you'll land on the Description Editor. The data you provide in your kahoot's description determines if and how it can be found by you or others. This is also where you can add a cover image and intro video.

After you're done with the description, use the green Ok, go button to access the Overviewpage.

Overview

The Overview editor page gives you a top-level view of your kahoot. Here, you can go back to the Description Editoradd new questionsedit existing questions, and save your kahoot.
