How do I complete a Challenge for Kahoot in the Mobile App?


How do I create a challenge in the mobile app? 

To create a challenge in the mobile app...

  1. Open (or install) the app and sign in to your account.
  2. Find and select the Kahoot you want to challenge others with.
  3. Use the kahoot's "Play" button in the bottom-right of the screen.
  4. Choose "Challenge".
  5. Tap on the pencil button to adjust how long from now the challenge ends.
  6. Tap on "Challenge options" if you would like to randomize answer order, hide player position, or hide the question timer. (Note: by default randomize answer order is toggled on and the question timer as well)
  7. Press create and share your challenge pin with others. You can select Google Classroom or Share link to share the challenge or choose Remind.

Up to 100 players can participate in a challenge. To accept a challenge, players need to install the Kahoot! app on their iOS or Android devices. They can join using the challenge link or PIN.

How do I create an account?

 Kahoot! accounts are free for students and teachers

You can get started by going to and clicking Sign up in the top navigation bar. You'll be taken through a quick, four-step process.

STEP 1: Role

This helps us ensure your experience with Kahoot! is tailored to your needs.

  • STUDENT: For creating kahoots and presenting what you're learning to teachers and peers.
  • TEACHER: For lesson-building and engaging students in new materials.
  • WORK: For internal or commercial trainings, events, and product promotion.
  • SOCIAL: For personal, non-commercial use.


STEP 2: Login Method

We currently offer three ways you can sign in. Currently, the method chosen during sign up can't be changed later on.

  • GOOGLE: Use your Google-hosted account to sign in
  • MICROSOFT: Use your Microsoft-hosted account to sign in
  • EMAIL: Use any email address and create a username and password to sign in with.

STEP 3: Account Details

Based on your role and login method, you'll need to provide some information.


Date of Birth (required)

In line with our Child Privacy Policy, we ask students and social Kahoot!'ers to verify their age. If they are under 16 (under 13 in the U.S.), their birthday is remembered so that we can take extra steps to avoid exposure to inappropriate content. Otherwise, their birthday is forgotten and they can report inappropriate content if they find any.


School or University (optional)

This is an optional field that won't  impact your Kahoot! experience. In some cases, this information might help our Support team find your account if you need help.


Company or Organization (required)

If you sign up for a subscription, this will be the name of your team that you can invite others to. You can change your team's name at any time.


Workplace details (required)

This gives us some context about the environment you plan to use Kahoot! In, allowing us to better tailor your experience to your needs.


Username (required)

This will be your public Kahoot! alias. It cannot be changed after your account is created. Others can search by your username to find all your public content. Make sure you pick something easy to remember and understandable! Your username must be 6-20 letters, and can include numbers and/or underscores.


Email (required)

If you forget your password at some point, you can submit your email at to generate a link (sent to you from which will allow you to create a new password.


Password (required)

Your password (along with username or email) will be what you sign in with if the EMAIL login method was chosen in step 2. Passwords must be between 6 and 20 characters long. Make sure it's a strong one, and remember - passwords should never be shared with anyone, including the Kahoot! team.


STEP 4: Custom Setup

Once you've clicked "Join Kahoot!", you'll have an account! However, depending on your role, you may have additional options presented to you before you can get started.


TEACHER: You'll have a one-time opportunity to tell us which grades and subjects you teach. This will be used in search filters to help others find your public content.


WORK: You'll be presented with options to upgrade to a subscription.


SOCIALLY: If you are at least 16 years old (13 in the U.S.), you'll be presented with options to upgrade to a subscription.

Creating a new kahoot

 To create a kahoot from scratch, start by signing into your account. Click the white "Create" or  "+" button (depending on your browser width).


Game Type

The first thing you'll need to choose is what type of game you want to create. Choose wisely! A kahoot's game type cannot be changed.


After choosing a game type, you'll land on the Description Editor. The data you provide in your kahoot's description determines if and how it can be found by you or others. This is also where you can add a cover image and intro video.

After you're done with the description, use the green Ok, go button to access the Overviewpage.



The Overview editor page gives you a top-level view of your kahoot. Here, you can go back to the Description Editoradd new questionsedit existing questions, and save your kahoot.
