Bullying Plan – Through our Positive Behavior System at Chinook Trail Elementary School, we do not tolerate bullying or bullying behaviors.  Please go to the district policies and procedures for the new bullying policy. (JICDE –Bullying prevention and Education Policy)

Accordingly, Chinook Trail has adopted the Steps to Respect Program (grades 3-5) and Second Steps (grades K-2) to create common language and instruction about bullying. The Steps to Respect program establishes a school-wide framework including anti-bullying policies and procedures, as well as consequences for bullying behavior.  The program also trains staff to identify and handle bullying, as well as provide instruction in the classroom as it pertains to bullying behaviors.  Finally, the program teaches students to recognize, refuse, and report bullying.

Character Education – We believe that a quality education includes guidance in becoming an “exemplary citizen.”  In addition, the Board of Education has endorsed character education (Policy IHAK – Character Education) as an essential component of education in Academy District 20.  Ten core principles are emphasized:  compassion, courage, excellence, honesty, hope, respect, integrity, responsibility, citizenship, and perseverance.

Child Abuse/Neglect – Colorado Statute (19-10-102 to 115) requires school personnel to report suspected or detected child abuse or neglect.
