Snow Days - Late Starts - Early Release - Inclement Weather

 Snow Days/Late Starts/Early Release/Inclement Weather

Snow Days are called by the District 20 Administrative Office. On days when inclement weather is a factor, please listen to local radio and TV stations for closures or cancellations.  District 20 Alerts will also be sent out to parents who have provided this contact information. You may also check the Weather Alert on the district web site  School will begin at 10:45 am on a 2 hour late start schedule. Morning kindergarten will run from 10:45 – 11:45 am on late start days.  Afternoon kindergarten will start at the normal time (12:45 pm).
If an early release is called, students and staff will follow the Early Release procedures parents have indicated on the early release form found under transportation in Parent Portal.  Local radio and television stations will be asked to announce that District 20 is releasing early and parents will also be notified through the 20 Alert System.  In the event of an early release, elementary students who normally walk home will be released only to a parent or guardian or their designee. (Procedure EBCE-R) Those children routinely picked up by parents or someone who has been authorized will be held until parent/designee picks them up. Please make sure that your student knows how he/she is to go home on such days.  School will be dismissed approximately two hours early, and bus drivers will make their regular runs in the same sequence as usual.
In the event that there is inclement weather (lightening, thunderstorm, hail, etc.) during dismissal time, the administration may deem it appropriate to hold all students inside the building for safety reasons.  Parents may come in to the front office to check out their students.  When the weather threat has been lifted, regular dismissal procedures will be followed.
